Digital Education

Transformation into the “next thing” in the way of learning.

What Is Personalized Learning?

Many in the “ed-tech” field see new technologies as powerful tools to help schools meet the needs of ever-more-diverse student populations. The idea is that digital devices, software, and learning platforms offer a once-unimaginable array of options for tailoring education to each individual student’s academic strengths and weaknesses, interests and motivations, personal preferences, and optimal pace of learning.

Ed-tech – the next thing in the education world

In recent years, a group of organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael          and Susan Dell Foundation, and EDUCAUSE have crafted a definition of “personalized learning” that rests on four pillars:

  • Each student should have a “learner profile” that documents his or her strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and goals;

  • Each student should pursue an individualized learning path that encourages him or her to set and manage personal academic goals;

  • Students should follow a “competency-based progression” that focuses on their ability to demonstrate mastery of a topic, rather than seat time; and,

  • Students’ learning environments should be flexible and structured in ways that support their individual goals.

What Is 1-to-1 Computing?

In many schools, students are given smart devices. Those are integrated with the school’s learning curriculum. Educators / teachers are also well trained to guide teaching programs with the help of smartboards integrated with these devices in the class. This allows the teacher to deliver more personalized learning in the class. Additionally it also helps;

  • Students to become technologically skilled and literate and thus better prepared for modern workplaces;

  • Empowering students to do more complex and creative work by allowing them to use digital and online applications and tools;

  • Improving the administration and management of schools and classrooms by making it easier to gather information on what students know and have done;

  • Improving communications among students, teachers, and parents.

And when at home, the idea is that this allows for “24-7” learning at the time and location of the student’s choosing.

Learning management systems, student information systems, and other software are also used to distribute assignments, manage schedules and communications, and track student progress.

Developing a habit of thinking at a very young age;

Children are very inquisitive and imaginative at a young age. To nurse this ability further, they are encouraged when more and more relevant information is made available to them easily at their command. While learning at home, the device encourages students to explore various options in the particular area of study. This adds to making the foundation of the subject stronger. Thus, preparing the student to be detail-oriented from an early stage.

Building “Tech-Savviness” at a young age:

Tech supported education develops students to explore and expand their imagination making them creative right at the start. Be it in the areas of mathematics, science, art, or music; students have complete freedom and ease to explore and learn by themselves. In turn this helps students to perform at a public forum and express their point of view with a great amount of confidence.

Preparing and excelling in competition:

Those who have been groomed though these “Ed-tech” methods stand apart in the world of competition, as their depth and width of thoughts is much higher than those who have come through the conventional route. This generates a sense of success for the educators. Schools that have adopted “Ed-tech” methods stand apart in the society.
